Did you know that Switchboard of Miami has a list of senior citizens that they call and converse with at least once a week? Or that they offer face-to-face therapy for individuals, couples and families? Guest speaker, Portia Dudley, shared this and more at
The Consumer Network meeting on March 11, 2014. During her presentation members learned that the Switchboard of Miami, best known for its suicide/crisis hotline, offers a variety of other lesser known programs and services.
As an outgrowth of the hotline, Switchboard expanded to provide suicide prevention training and crisis intervention training to working professionals. Portia Dudley informed interested Consumer Network members that there is also a support group that meets for people impacted by this issue.

I had heard about the phone calls to seniors. It helps with loneliness and isolation. But I didn't know about the counseling center. Interesting.
